We are a node in a network
It is not possible to be a passive bystander of the world anymore.
Everything affects us. Globalization and social media have made us more connected than ever.
I spent my Sunday doomscrolling about what’s happening in Ukraine. To say that I am riled up would be an understatement.
I could get away without caring much about the Ukraine situation if I am in my room alone, but I know that it will be a topic of conversation with people around me. The conversation might stem from under-informed, half-baked thoughts, what I would be most certain of is the deep and genuine concern, as if we are personally affected by the injustice. I think what makes us aware and concerned is the fact that if it can happen in a remote corner of the world, it can happen to us as well.
We are locally under-informed and globally hyper-informed.
What affects one affects us all. If I were to give an analogy in the internet terms, we are indeed a node in a network.
Lastly, my heart goes out to the people of Ukraine and each and everyone affected by the unwarranted Russian aggression.
